Dab at the sticky areas of the console with the tape to remove the sticky residue.Other tape may be used, but we found masking tape to be the most effective. Place the fingers of one hand together and wrap a long strip of masking tape around the tips, so that the sticky part is facing outward.


Nintendo has found that the following procedure can be used to remove the residue: Some vinyl stickers that can be applied to the outer housing of the Wii console may leave behind a sticky residue when removed. Nintendo no longer offers factory repairs for the Wii console or Wii mini (models RVL-001, RVL-101 and RVL 201 serial numbers begin with "LU," "KU," "LB," "KB," or "HW"), so the console will need to be replaced instead. The system will need to be repaired or replaced if these are not working properly. Nintendo does not have a recommended cleaning method. The vacuum should be on its lowest setting. Use a vacuum cleaner to remove any crumbs or light objects from inside the disc tray (caddy). Never use liquid of any type to clean the vents. Use some type of dusting tool, including a dusting attachment for a vacuum. Be sure not to get the cloth too wet, because liquid can drip down into the system. Spray a dry cloth with Windex or Simple Green then wipe the system down. There are different cleaning methods depending on which part of the console needs cleaning.
